Review of A & E
5th July 2022

Dr Kiran is an Absolutely an Outstanding Dr,,to True to Fault ,others need to take a leaf out of his especially in this department, where patients are extremely Anxious. The ward opposite Guy Ward also need to take his example on board , especially, those that are there for control and money and do not want to make a difference,as the Casually express at interview Give up the ost to those that can

It is a great shame i had to wait in the ambulance for some two hours, as did a number of other ambulances which explains why I waited some ten hours for it to arrive. The treatment I received was almost entirely focused on my passing out waiting for the ambulance and ignored why I originally needed one. I was told that was a matter for my GP whereas my GP had advised me I should wait for sn ambulance. Complete lack of clarity. Otherwise, the staff were all very kind snd doing their best in difficult circumstances.

Suggested improvements
Less waiting time and clarity of care

Had to wait for more than 2.5 hours for just a small jab, Tetanus jab. It’s hardly 5 mins job but unfortunately due to poor management I had to sit there for so long. Doctor was very kind and professional.

5.5 hours from arrival to leaving wasn't great. Staff were all working exceptionally hard. Can only assume there were not many staff in A&E that eve as it was less busy in the waiting room than our previous visit which took 3.5 hours.

Suggested improvements
Nothing. The long wait was the issue.

All staff were caring, showed a high degree of empathy and understanding and treated me at all times with a high degree of respect.

After all my rests had been done I was left for 2+ hours with no 9ngormstion as to what was happening. As it turned out the Dr. dealing with my care had to deal with a cardiac arrest so could not review my tests and discharge me home earlier. It would have been helpful if someone had told me that there was an emergency situation going on and that I would be dealt with ASAP.

I was seen and x-rayed quickly but then waited for over an hour for follow up by A&E nurse who wanted me to be reviewed by the consultant before discharge. I then waited 3 hours for a consultant review but was never seen or spoken to by the consultant and was then discharged without knowing exactly what was wrong or possible solutions. I could have been discharged much sooner and been at home with my family

Suggested improvements
It would have been good to have been offered a drink as due to my injuries I was not able to get one myself. I was also disappointed that a consultant did not come and see me directly and explain what my injuries were and what was going to happen next. The A&E staff were lovely but couldn’t provide the whole level of care

All the staff were kind informative and efficient, just needed more info re timing of my next blood test ,once I had that info it was all fine . Staff seemed to be struggling with machinery that wasn't working especially on a busy night, time consuming for them .

Suggested improvements
Info as above needed Working machinery to help the staff
